After dealing with disappointment during my marathon this past weekend, I decided to regroup and push even harder on my next attempt….Here’s how I bounced back so quickly – and how you can too when things don’t go your way!
“Dealing with Disappointment can make you more focused to succeed!”
Here are a few more ways to help in dealing with disappointment:
- When life throws a curve ball at you, it’s normal to feel like you’re the victim. Just don’t dwell on it! In his article on dealing with disappointment, Chuck Gallozzi calls this phenomenon “looking inward”. When this happens think about all the things you are fortunate for that you take for granted and about all those who are less fortunate than you…Count your blessings, dust yourself off, and take another crack at it.
- When you are following your passions and living with purpose, remember to let your heart guide you along the path to fulfillment. If you live your life like this and are dealt a crummy hand once in a while, you will be open to the hiccups and course corrections and things won’t seem as bad anymore.
- This last way of dealing with disappointment is actually a bit harder than it seems but it does work! If you set yourself up ahead of time to not be disappointed, then it becomes kind of impossible to become disappointed! I have used this technique successfully a few times in the past when I was faced with an unfamiliar situation and wanted to manage my expectations. When you expect nothing more than what life offers, and embrace what comes your way, you will never be let down!
If you are effectively dealing with disappointment, you have the ability to take things in stride and enjoy your life journey much more!
Living with Purpose. Live Fulfilled.
